Why have military familes had to rasie funds for body armor or buy their own, my son is in the Marines, and?
has done 2 tours already in Iraq. As both a father of a Marine and as as Viet Nam Marine Corps veteran I find that in excusable! Regardless of how one feels about the war, in my opinion we need to supply our ground forces with the best equipment money can buy!

Wow someone seriously thumbs down you for asking a questioning about supplying troops with the proper gear? Must be a commie.
You are right, if we are going to start a war and put lives on the line, they should have the best possible gear to protect them. After all we are the USA the worlds only super power and our military should be outfitted accordingly.
The was a left wing media ploy to discredit the war!! Sorry you missed that!!!
Some dragon skin would be nice
you are a "vet."then you should know that your just wasting your time here asking serious questions like this one on yahoo. i think it is appalling for our government to not have the proper equipment for our troops . bush should be charge for this putting our peoples in harms way. happy Holiday
thatway you can get NIKE sponsored equipemtn from your local foot locker!!
Ask Halliburton when they billed the Army 900 dollars per toilet seat.
Funny how that works, isn’t it? The politicians who supported the Iraq war wanted to send our troops into battle WITHOUT the necessary equiptment!
Amen to that!
I agree. It seems that too many people who say "support the troops" don’t get the point. Supporting the troops means the soldiers, not the politicians, and it doesn’t just mean sending them thank-you cards. It means providing the best equipment possible to keep them safe. I’ve been petitioning for this for some time - had a friend who died in a poorly armored Humvee. I hope that your Marine is safe and comes home soon.
Agree this is why I have no respect for bush and his war… We need to defend our country sure enough but don`t send our ( the best trained forces in the world)to war without the equipment they need FOR THEIR PROTECTION AND SAFTEY. That is VERY disrespectful to the people that CHOOSE to put there lives on the line for us and their families. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL IN MY OPINION OF OUR PRESIDENT TO DO THAT.
