Got any suggestions for what kind of handgun to buy?

I like revolvers, but need help figuring out what caliber or brand to buy.
I like revolvers, but don't know what caliber to buy or what brands are good. This would be my first handgun. I'm looking for something to protect my house if someone were to break in, or to just take to the gun range and shoot. I probably not ever going to go hunting with it.

We live in Texas and my older brother's birthday is coming up. I have a limited budget of 0 and I want to buy him a good reliable semi-auto handgun as a birthday surprise to him. He doesn't like revolvers by the way. This is not a straw purchase, this is a birthday gift to my older brother, my brother has no felonies and no misdemeanors. What good reliable handgun would you recommend that won't break my bank? Thanks.

What is the best AK-47 on the civilian market?

I'm looking to add an assault rifle to my collection of semi auto's, revolvers, and shotguns.
I don't want to spend more than 0, but I want a quality AK-47, or a clone of one.
I heard that the Yugoslavian and Romanian AK's are good, but what do you think?
I want an Ak-47 that's chambered for the 7.62 x 39 round.
