Can someone explain New Jersey gun laws? I can buy a handgun if I whine enough to the gov't and actually fill out all their paper work, yet they ban me from having a non-lethal taser. WTF? What is the reason behind this? And how can they do this? The constitution says I have a right to bear ARMS. it doesn't say legal firearms only. Isn't a taser for defensive purposes clearly included in that?

I know very little about guns, but would like to purchase a small handgun. I will be using it for occasional target shooting at a range and also (hopefully never actually needed for) protection, to be kept in my house.

I am going to be 18 soon, and I wanted to build my own AR-15 rifle. I know all the restrictions required by state law to make it CT happy, and not make it cross over to the assault rifle category. I just wanted to know if I can legally purchase lower receiver at 18. I don't want to make a fool out of myself when I go to a dealer. Since it has a detachable cartridge, is it possible that it is classified as a handgun and I'll need to be 21 with a permit?

If I'm not mistaken there is a waiting period to buy a handgun or rifle in the United States? If so, how long does it normally take, and even if I was approved the first time to buy a gun do I still have to wait the second time to purchase another gun?
