I am a parking enforcement officer, working grave yard shifts in a bad neighborhood and i was considering buying a bulletproof vest to wear at night. What kind of bullet proof vest will be good and what level.

is a bulletproof vest better than the other vests? will it stop bullets?
I was wondering if anyone can buy a bulletproof vest; or are they not sold at all in the public market?
I would like a white fake bulletproof vest that is not real but looks exactly like the real thing.
I want to buy a bulletproof vest no more than 0, ive looked online but does anyone know of any website to look at? Please and thank you
What is the average price for this type of body armor? Are there any special taxes that have to be paid?
I didn't say I needed it. I was just curious because some of my friends were talking about it.
.47? That seems awfully cheap for a bulletproof vest. What website is selling it for that price?
Ok, but how much would a new one cost?
Anyone knows the technical details of a bulletproof vest? Example : 85% protection against M16 on zero impact ; 200 meter?
Can a bulletproof vest protect you at close range? I also don't think it can protect you from a slug or AK47 but am just curious.
I see it in the movies all the time. Lethal Weapon 1 comes to mind. When Riggs gets shot during that drive-by, he flies into the store window and lies unconscious. A few seconds later, he comes to and is in his maniac mode.
Ok, I know that this is a movie...an unrealistic one, at that. But this is the same thing that happens in a whole lot other movies as well. Is this what really happens when you get shot while wearing a bulletproof vest?
Why does this happen? Is it the force of the bullet? Or the shock of getting hit?
Simple as could be, those long roll, unflavored and unbasted rawhide chews for dogs. Do you think it would make a suitable material as under-shirt body armor?
The only thing I would foresee trouble with is the stitching the rawhides together while they are still soft, and the rough texture they will have when dried.
But still, would it be useful as a light body armor?
I'm just asking out of curiousity by the way, I'm way too lazy to actually take the work to make it.
I'm not looking to make a bulletproof vest, I'm just amusing myself this late at night with just being curious. if ever I use it I know the most I would take it to would be a small folder knife.
Still, an interesting idea but sort of weird too, right? I'm just wanting to know if other people will think it will work also. I can see it working against small folding knives, like I said, but this is just a brain scratcher kind of question.
Do I need to wear a bulletproof vest when visiting Birmingham UK's, Europes capital of gun crime ?
I know its a stupid question, but some teen somehow owned a bulletproof vest. (I don't, by the way). Would they be allowed to wear it to school?
I don't own it
I live in California. And due to my recent security concerns i plan on purchasing a bulletproof vest. The one i am interested in is level IIIA. I wouldnt wear it casually, however on ocassion i would wear it to public places
If searched and bulletproof vest was found, how long would i be facing?
would it set off any metal detectors?
and does body armor level matter?
My husband wears a bulletproof vest and wears a regular shirt under it so the vest will not get sweaty. Should he wear a certain type of shirt under or should he not wear a shirt at all?
