should I buy an AR-15 or a SAIGA and convert it?
I turn 18 in a week and would like to purchase a rifle. should I buy an AR-15 or a SAIGA and convert it? The SAIGA is a lot cheaper and it is easy to convert to look like an AK-47. Or I might just buy an AK-47 they are only 0 at a local shop.

I would go with an AR-15. It does cost more, but there is a lot more accessories you can get for it later.
if you want to
Don’t buy either. if you want an AK that looks like an AK buy a Romanian WASR 10. They are $350.00 and are identical to a russian AK. Here is a link to the store.

AK 47 original. 2 main reasons. 1. AK are indestructable and never need to b cleaned. 2. ammo: 7.62 x 39 20 rds. 4.99 .223 20 rds 16.99. I would sugesst to buy the SAIGA and not convert it. Looks like a AK and its easy on the pocket.
when i turned 18 i remember i was in the same position.
id go with an ar15 cause they more customizable, and u can also build it up to a 6.8, theyre way more accurate then an ak

there also cmmg but i dont know the site
Saigas are an ak, theyre pretty good but not as accurate as an ar15, saiga also makes a nice semi auto shotty
but ya the ak is way cheaper to fire and use
with an ar15 expect to spend up to 1100 just to get it the way u want (rails vert grip, collapsable stock, etc..)
if ur doing sport shooting or competitions id recommend the ar15 , u can get a way tighter grouping with it
You’re turning 18, save some money and get the Saiga. Learn how to modify/convert firearms then when you save up some money build your own AR-15. I wouldn’t do it before getting accustomed to working on firearms. Hope you have someone to teach you.
Lets see your turning 18 and are not a gunsmith??? Drop the idea of converting anything. Buy a complete rifle chambered in what you want…. Most of those AR type rifles can be customised so start with a rifle thats already to go in that regard…. Bushmaster, Rock River Arms, DPMS, Olympic Arms all have nice rifles….. Forget the AK. I own them - sure they are fun to shoot but overall they are crap…… Pay a little more for a quality firearm. The AK is limited on any features you can add…… If you like the fact the AK uses cheaper ammo then Get an AR chambered in 7.63×39MM. DPMS and Olympic both make rifles that use the cheaper AK ammo. Later when you have more money then change the uppers to the .223 if you want….
