Walmart does not sell guns anymore. Academy, you have to be 21 yrs old, pass a very extensive background check, waiting period. when your 21 and you buy a gun, that dealer has you to fill out a form, which will be used to do a back ground check on you, that paper also registered it, as belonging to you, if you pass the background check. Of course they will have records of you buying a gun and so will the state and government. If you carry a hand gun without taking the concealed weapons course to get a permit, and actually get the permit, yes, you can go to jail for having one on you or in you car. Get on line , google Texas concealed weapons permit. All info is right there for you to read. Seems like some unusual questions, like #2. you are asking, but 21 is legal age to buy one.
why dont you just phone up your local TEXAN law enforcement office.. Im sure they will have plenty to tell you.. (just love them Texas cops) haha!
Yes to all 4 questions. But don’t buy from WalMart, buy from Academy. They will answer any questions you have honestly.
Federal law prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from buying a handgun.
When buying a gun, whether it is a rifle, shotgun, or handgun, the federal paperwork is the same. The ATF form you fill out will require your full name, physical address, place of birth, date of birth, and a social security number. The seller fills in the information on what is being sold to you. The seller sends in the form to the ATF. They are not supposed to keep files on gun owning Americans, but probably do. The seller calls in your information to the local police and they do an "instant background" check on you. Assuming you are not a dishonorable discharged, wanted, insane, wife beating, drug addicted butt head, you will pass the check and can walk out of the store with your new gun.
You do not need a license or permit to purchase a gun in Texas.
If you plan on carrying a gun as a concealed weapon you must have a license for that. I believe Texas is a "Shall issue" State, meaning if you want the license and can pass a background check, you get a license.
Since, at 18, you can only legally purchase a rifle or shotgun; and you want to lug it around in your vehicle, I’m not all that sure on Texas law about that. I do not believe you need a license for that, though.
No, Federal law states that you must be at least 21 to purchase handguns.
Texas? Can’t you buy them at 7-11?
You have to be 21 to purchase a handgun or ammunition under federal law not just in Texas. You need a permit in Texas to carry anywhere in Texas. I do not believe Texas has an open carry law like KY.
